E.S.T.T.V. TAVERES

E.S.T.T.V. TAVERES is the table tennis club for students in Eindhoven. The club name is an acronym of TAfeltennis VEReniging Eindhovense Studenten. TAVERES was founded on the 1st of October 1966. The club is a member of the organization that covers student sports clubs in Eindhoven (ESSF) as well as a member of the Dutch table tennis union (NTTB).

The main goal of the club is to promote table tennis among students in Eindhoven. Students studying at the Eindhoven University of Technology or at the Fontys Hogeschool or Design Academy are welcome to come and play. Twice a week, a training is given by our trainer at the student sport center at the university campus. The training sessions are intended for all players, from beginners’ through advanced level.

TAVERES takes part in the NTTB competition, where matches are usually played on Fridays. Furthermore there are various tournaments in which TAVERES members take part. Next to regular tournaments in the neighbourhood, participation in dedicated student table tennis tournaments forms an important part of the tournament calendar. Beside a sportive challenge there is also a great atmosphere whenever TAVERES meets other student table tennis clubs.

Activities

Next to playing table tennis, TAVERES also offers many opportunities for other activities. TAVERES organizes about one activity a month, for instance pool billiard, beer pong or a social get-together. Fixed parts of the activities calendar are formed by the Van Lint Students’ Sports Week, the golf clinic & barbecue at the end of the year and the organization of our own international tournament: the ITT.

The ITT, our International Table tennis Tournament, takes place every year in May and is the largest student table tennis tournament of Europe, with an average of 300 participants. In two days both a team tournament and a singles tournament take place. At the night after the first day there is a big party where the participants can prepare optimally for the second day until the early morning hours.
